His illustrations have appeared on the covers of science and science fiction magazines, on books by many luminaries of the science fiction field and in more places than I can count.

We sat down a few months ago at LosCon and chatted about his art and science fiction and many other subjects It was a special pleasure to find out that he shares my love for many of the Japanese science fiction movies of the 50's and 60's. Click on the links below to listen to this interview. I think you'll enjoy it.

    Orson Scott Card

This Friday, January 12, 2001, our guest was Orson Scott Card, the award winning author of Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, "The Homecoming Saga", "The Tales of Alvin Maker", Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon and many more books.
With Ender's Shadow Orson retells the events of his award winning novel Ender's Game, as seen through the eyes of one of the other characters. In Shadow of the Hegemon he returns to that universe and continues the story of the children who went to Battle School and saved the human race by winning a war with an alien intelligence. Only now they're commodities that every government wants. And for some governments, if they can't have those children then they'll stop at nothing to make sure no other government can have them either.

Orson Scott Card is a writer of rare talent and a genuinely interesting person. It was my pleasure to interview him a few days ago and I think you'll enjoy listening to what he has to say about life, writing and his books.

    Phil Lublin from Lunar Models

Lunar Models Kits - top picture
Lunar Models Kits - left picture    On Friday - January 5, 2001 - our guest was Phil Lublin, the owner of Lunar Models, a company that produces models of science fiction subjects.

Lunar Models has always had wonderful kit designs, but having purchased many of those kits over the last decade I can attest to the frustration of getting kits that had more than their share of 'rough edges'.

I was really impressed by Phil's candor during this interview. It's obvious that he's working hard to improve the quality of the kits from Lunar Models. Judging from the improvements they've made in the last few years it looks like this is happening. Way to go Phil!

  • The Starship Modeler web site is one of my favorite on-line resources for news and information about science fiction modeling. They have a wealth of information about science fiction models along with tips for building kits, a picture gallery of kits made by their readers, reference materials for many science fiction subjects and links to many other on-line resources. Most highly recommended.
  • The CultTVman's SF Modeling web site is another of my favorite on-line SF modeling resources. The amount of information on this site is amazing. It has news, articles about kit building, 'how-to-do-it' articles for super detailing your kits and loads of pictures from their readers showing some truly amazing work. They also have a newsletter that has even more information about SF modeling. This site is also most highly recommended.
